This is a very unique wall pocket
Made out of some type of ceramic or pottery(looks similar to chalkware, but it is Not as Heavy as Chalkware).
It is marked 'Japan' on the back.
It has a great chippy paint finish, that comes from Age!
Prominent colors are: Yellow,Brown,Red,Green,Blues
It has a very nice
3D raised relief
Majolica Style, Hand Painted scene
.
The scene looks like a fishing village on top of a mountain cliff, with a sailing boat beneath in the sea, Perhaps in the Mediterranian.
Not sure of Age, have seen other similar examples of size and shape attributed to 1930's and 40's.
